MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of AVS is to achieve excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery through the application of technology, the expertise of specialists and the compassion of our nursing staff.
Our goal is to provide unsurpassed service and care to our patients, their owners and the referring veterinarians.
About Our Specialists: Our specialists are veterinarians that have had at least an additional four years of post-doctoral education and training in their specialty area. Many have served on the faculties of colleges of veterinary medicine throughout the U.S. Our specialists can diagnose and treat conditions that would send a person with a similar medical problem to a specialist or university hospital.
What sets us apart: AVS's team of 29 veterinarians (including 15 board certified specialists) 60 nurses, assistants, and administrative staff have been providing to you and your loved ones the highest quality of medical and surgical care for almost 20 years.
Specialty Services Available: AVS has specialists in the areas of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, medical and surgical neurology, radiology (inclusive of ultrasound, MRI and CT Scan), radiation and medical oncology, dentistry, behavior and physical rehabilitation.
Surgery: AVS' surgical service performs orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Some of the orthopedic procedures performed include: total hip replacements, fracture repairs, and surgery for cruciate ligament injury. AVS also performs minimally invasive procedures including laparoscopy and arthroscopy.
Internal Medicine: Our internal medicine service sees many cancer patients that can be treated with chemotherapy or radiation. Other problems that may bring a patient to our internists include: inappetance, fever, anemia, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, or disorders of the urinary tract.
Neurology: The neurology service diagnoses and treats medical and surgical conditions related to the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Common problems that present to our neurologists include: paralysis, loss of balance, seizures, or exercise intolerance.
Imaging: The radiology service performs many non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnostic procedures including: radiography, ultrasound, MRI, CT-Scan and nuclear medicine.
Physical Rehabilitation: The physical rehabilitation program features an underwater treadmill. Physical rehabilitation speeds recovery and improves strength following surgery. Whether walking or swimming, our patients benefit from the added buoyancy and resistance the warm water provides.
Radiation Oncology: AVS provides advanced, external beam radiation (linac) treatment for cancer in dogs and cats. It is the same technology used to treat human cancer patients at hospitals throughout the country.
Charitable Work: AVS provides discounted veterinary care to Seminole County Sheriff's department, Canine Companions for Independence, Greyhound rescue organizations, and Houndhaven.
