Originally from Connecticut, Dr. DeSandre earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island in 2005. She then received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2009 while also becoming certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture and Veterinary Business Management. She continued on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey followed by a surgery internship and surgery residency with us at AVS. Prior to returning to AVS, Dr. DeSandre was a Clinical Assistant Professor in small animal surgery at Purdue University in Indiana and she also worked in a specialty referral hospital in California. Dr. DeSandre is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Her professional areas of interest include: oncologic surgery, comparative oncology, reconstructive surgery, oral maxillofacial surgery, wound management, minimally invasive surgery, interventional radiology and neurosurgery.
