Mary O. Smith, B.V.M.&S., PH.D.

Dr. Smith completed a residency in neurology and neurosurgery at the University of California, Davis, followed by a Ph.D. in Comparative Neuropathology. She served on the faculty of Colorado State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine for nine years, before joining Affiliated Veterinary Specialists® in 2001. Dr. Smith is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the subspecialty of Neurology and holds the ACVIM Neurosurgery Certificate of Training. Dr. Smith manages patients with the full range of both medical and surgical disorders of the nervous system. She maintains involvement with research into prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of animal disease, being a Director on the Board of the American Kennel Club’s Canine Health Foundation and Chairperson of its Scientific Review Board.
