Interventional Medicine and Surgery

Interventional medicine/surgery is a field that integrates medicine, surgery and radiology (fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT) to develop and execute minimally invasive solutions to medical problems.  Interventional procedures involve multiple organ systems including the heart and vessels, pulmonary tree, gastroenteric system, kidneys, upper and lower urinary tracts. Interventional treatments are frequently standardized procedures such as stent placement or the ballooning of scar tissue. However, this field also utilizes the knowledge of multiple specialists to find coordinated approaches to the most difficult of problems.
